A 160-acre farm 11/2 miles east of Fairview on State Highway 58 is the
home of
Major County Historical Society and
Museum. The grounds encompass a museum,
the Veteran’s Memorial, a one-room schoolhouse, the Orient Depot, the BlueFront
Hotel, a turn-of-the-century house, and the Avenue of Memories—a brick walk
engraved with names of people, businesses, and organizations that have been
important to the growth of Major County over the past 100 years. |

The society sponsors a combined annual event
in September—
The
Two-Cylinder Tractor Show
two days of parades and demonstrations of
antique tractors and equipment in action, and the
Old Time Threshing Bee,
two days of yester-year-activity, style shows, antique cars,
“farmer” competitions and great food and music. They provide low-cost family fun
that is a history lesson for youngsters and a journey down memory lane for older
folks. |
